If your grass is mostly just used for visual greenery and isn't used for sports or other activities, you can usually let it grow a little longer to about 2.5 inches. However, if you have a field that's used for sports or other things, it usually needs to be shorter and mowed more often. These fields are typically around 1.5-2 inches tall and need to be mowed and watered more frequently as a result.
